Dato' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohammad - Prime Minister of Malaysia

I was sitting at my cubicle, I realised how happy I am now working at my current position. Of course there is always room for improvement but I'm happy, that is the main thing and I'm optimistic about what the future has to offer.

I remembered when I first started out working, the economic situation was pretty bad so there were not a lot of work out there so jobs was very hard to come by. There were some positions but a lot were demanding such high standards from applicants that it seems ridiculous why the candidates want to apply for that position in the first place!!

* fresh graduates need not apply * was the in-thing then as the companies were looking at quick results, so I suffered pretty badly as there are no companies willing to take me in, even on part-time basis.

If a fresh graduate would see how I was sending applications out back then, they would have said I'm nuts. I had to take up some strange jobs to finance the 'resumes' I need to send out. I think I 've would have sent out at least 100 - 200 resumes out, not counting the e-mail applications. I surely hope that all those papers were properly recycled.

But that was then, and I look at it as a good life lesson. There is no shortcuts to success like what PM said.

No I'm not sucessful yet, but if you know me back then you would say that I did quite alright.

As most of you know Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad is stepping down as Prime Minister of Malaysia today. Well I will miss seeing him on the telly and sometimes in Putrajaya on Fridays.

Though a lot has been said about him, good and bad, but we all must realise that people tend to forget about the good things that the old man has done and has always emphasize the bad things. Let's not forget that he is also a human too, but his dedication and determination to see Malaysia succeed should be praised and remembered by all.

People will say that someone else could have done better, but when he was the Prime Minister he gave his best and the raa'yat has profited from it regardless of race.

To me Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad prooves that Malaysian can do anything if they put their hearts and mind into it and we should never let anyone tell us that we can't do it.

I will continue working hard to improve my living standards, and thanks to him I have a chance to do just that.

Thank you Dato' Seri Dr Mahathir Mohammad. May you enjoy your retirement, god bless you and your family.

Interesting junk mails...

Usually I would just delete junk e-mails, but this one seems interesting.. a bit mushy lar...but i like the twist at the ending.

Maybe you can read this on your tea-time or after bukak puasa or after sahur..your choice.

BTW, I've deleted the part where they say forward this to a friend and things like that..enjoy!

THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE BODY

My mother used to ask me what is the most important part of the body.

Through the years I would take a guess at what I thought was the correct answer.

When I was younger, I thought sound was very important to us as humans so I said, "My ears, Mommy." She said, "No. Many people are deaf. But you keep thinking about it and I will ask you again soon."

Several years passed before she asked me again. Since making my first attempt, I had contemplated the correct answer. So
this time I told her, "Mommy, sight is very important to everybody, so it must be "Our eyes." She looked at me and told me, "You are learning fast, but the answer is not correct because there are many people who are blind."
Stumped again, I continued my quest for knowledge and over the years, Mother asked me a couple more times and always her answer was, "No. But you are getting smarter every year, my child."

Then one year, my grandfather died. Everybody was hurt. Everybody was crying. Even my father cried. I remember that especially because it was only the second time I saw him cry. My Mom looked at me when it was our turn to say our
final good-bye to my Grandfather. She asked me, "Do you know the most important body part yet, my dear?"

I was shocked when she asked me this now. I always thought this was a game between her and me. She saw the confusion on my face and told me, "This question is very important. It shows that you have really lived in your life. For every body
part you gave me in the past, I have told you were wrong and I have given you an example why. But today is the day you need to learn this important lesson." She looked down at me as only a mother can. I saw her eyes well up with tears.

She said, "My dear, the most important body part is your shoulder." I asked, "Is it because it holds up my head?" She replied, "No, it is because it can hold the head of a friend or a loved one when they cry. Everybody needs a shoulder to cry on sometime in life, my dear. I only hope that you have enough love and friends that you will always have a shoulder to cry on when you need it."

Then and there I knew the most important body part is not a selfish one. It is sympathetic to the pain of others. People will
forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will NEVER forget how you made them feel. END

linkin park - Stadium Merdeka,Malaysia 15th Oct 2003 - The Experience - part 2

There we was in the queue. The weather was quite allright. Hot but not as punishing. That however did not stop sweat dripping like there is a leak in my body.

In front of us there were a bunch of form 5 students. Some of them even skipped school for this, not that I approve of this but I'm not about to lecture with sweat dripping from almost every part of my blipping body. One of them have apparently been queuing since 10 a.m. Man! Here am I thinking arriving at 4.30 pm is good enough to be in front of the line. Oh well, lesson learned.

5.30 p.m the queue gets tighter. The ‘posers’ were not queuing more going like "hey what's up" and talking shit walking around posing. I do not care and I'm shittin' tired. Sweat keeps pouring down. I'm drinking water like a Hippopotamus after a long sunbath. Saw some guys with LP written on their hair, I think with liquid paper or something...creative.

6 p.m people have started to become a tad aggressive seeking space to move in front. There is no major pushing yet but the sound checks inside is getting the crowd excited. Some guy (I think with the local TV station) was videotaping much to the crowds delight. At least the crowd is happy.

6.30 p.m the crowd went full throttle and was really pushing I found myself sandwiched flat. Just imagine two sweaty adults sandwiching you. It isn’t pretty but it's too late to get away when 'the years ultimate experience' is just a few steps away.

6.35 p.m the gate is still closed. The crowd now becomes agitated; they're hot and dehydrated. I personally shouted some profanities as I could not stand the bullshit they’re letting us endure. This was followed by the crowd shouting 'pukimak' as a protest to some bastards who decided to squeeze from the side. Now the crowd is really, really agitated. The police are taking more attention, which they should have been doing much earlier. Or is this the organizers responsibility? The question is does it even matter whose responsibility it is to control the crowd?

6.40 p.m the gate opens! Rushing was in everybody's mind. Pushing is a norm. I tried making my way grabbing my buddies along the way. We held each other's hand so nobody is left behind. Security was only letting a few people in with two people checking the tickets. Yeah 2 people to check the few thousand of us going in!!! After about 20 - 30 minutes we were in. One of the guys got left behind, we waited for a while, only to discover in disgust that a crowd control device was unleashed to the crowd queuing to control them!!! I'm not sure what it is but it was chocking the crowd big time.
I could only suspect the police releasing this but I can't confirm but it did happen. We saw people coughing their heads out; we made a move in as the gas is causing irritation to our eyes as well.

Rushed in only to have the full mineral water bottles we bought earlier confiscated at the entrance. That was fuck. Got in bought the RM3 per cup RO water to cure the dehydration. My friend got through and we rushed to the crowd with hopes for a good view up front. We actually ran with the cup in our hands attempting to drink while we ran. Halfway that was almost impossible so I decided to dunk the water over my head!!!!

Time 7:20 p.m. Hanging out waiting for LP.

linkin park - Stadium Merdeka,Malaysia 15th Oct 2003 - The Experience - part 1

Woke up and instantly it struck me I'm going to see
linkin park performing today. I got delayed cause my phone line was down hence bogging down my streamyx as well. So I got to wait for the guy and all, while waiting I got myself ready for the big show, took a long bath, applied extensive hair products and listen to a bunch of music cd's to cool down my excitement. It's after all only 12 at noon with 8 hours to go before Linkin Park plays to thousands of fans and music lovers alike.

By 3p.m the Telekom guy came and fix my problem, that was a relief. Any longer I would have sacrificed living another day without streamyx or communication from the outside world for Linkin Park, my family won't be pleased if that were to happen...

Start the car give a short warm-up and off I go, short stop for some petrol and food then away driving like a man possessed!

Federal Highway was all right, nothing big happen so it was a good drive only delayed by a crawl near Stadium Merdeka.
Then my pal called asking me where am I. Pick-up handphone

**Conversation starts**
Friend: where are you?
Blip: near already!
Friend: people queuing up already, people are queuing from outside the stadium the line is long!! and I got to leave my bag in your car.
Blip: fuck! Fuck! Ok. Ok. Will be there in 10 minutes!
**Conversation ends**

Got to Stadium Merdeka. Luckily the traffic was smooth with traffic cops all around! Parked my car, rush off to meet with 2 of my best buds there.

**Conversation starts**
Blip: why aren't you fucking queuing?
Friend: panas lar.
Blip: queue lar. Faster let me take your bag to the car
**Conversation ends**

Rush to the car again dumped the bag into the trunk. Then off I go rushing back to the queue!

Time - 4:30p.m. We're in the queue. A long queue. Sweating is pouring like it's raining or something.

joe's gone.

a sad news was posted on Jeff Ooi's blog today

I've only started to read Johan Ismail's blog and have enjoyed much of his writings.

He's bold, witty, smart, forward thinking and sometimes downright dangerous.

Reading his writing will definitely cheer you up or leave you in disbelief on the frankness of his thoughts!

You know you're fortunate when someone is able to shock you with excitement of your daily plain life :-)

Though we never personally met but i think we need more Johan Ismail's in this world.

We'll miss you man. Rest in Peace.

Al-Fatihah.

Tips for Linkin Park

So are you ready for Linkin Park tomorrow? Here are some tips that could be useful:-

Start early preparing....

Start your day early assuming you've taken a day off from work and all. Preparing early will ensure you would have more time in hand before the show. Then all those extra styling you need to do on your hair can be done. Preparing early also means that you don't have to rush going out. The extra time in hand is definitely welcomed the last thing you need is to be stuck in traffic with LP

Drinking and eating....

Try not to eat and drink too much before the show starts. Going to the toilet with a big crowd during the show would be hell and of course you would eventually miss a most of the show. First you would be queing u're ass off to pee at the toilet and it will be a battle to get to your spot back especially if you have are on the standing sections.

Clothing + shoes....

Wear your favorite jeans to the show instead of your grungy looking khaki pants. Reason? When I went for the NoDoubt show in PWTC. I was sweating like a pig and we did not actually jump our heads off, the crowd was pushing the whole night and it was hot as hell. So the last thing you need is for your undies to be showing due to the sweating after the show..So denim is your best bet that you would still look sharp after the show!

Ditch your pimp-ass white shoes for this one! There will be a rush when the gates is open and you don't want your lucky no. 9 to be step on by thousands of people..

Also, put your valuables in your front pocket. Putting wallets and handphones in a pouch-bag would make it easier for thieves to try to snatch the bag during the rush-in. Putting everything in your front pocket is your best bet, so if someone actually tries then most probably the person is just horny!!

Parking your car....

Come early to get good parking and park at the designated parking space. The authorities will slap a summon as there would truckloads of police there. What's would be worse? After a good night watching LP you find your car has been towed away!!

Safety....

For your safety do not even attempt to sit during the show. People just might fall over you and trust me to have a few people fall over you is no fun..

Ditch the substance...alcohol or drugs..aww come on you have waited this long for them to come around here and you want to get high. Do that at home with their CD on your player it's cheaper and safer.

What not to bring in....

Don't bring anything sharp in. So leave your penknife, nail clippers, Swiss knife and all!! And try to leave your medication at home as well that includes your friendly aspirin. Why? The place is filled with plain clothes police; you do not want to be pulled out of the concert due to suspicion of being a junkie or worst a terrorist!!

So those are my tips. So have a good, safe rawking fun tomorrow...see you there!!!

p.s leave some tips on the comment if you have any..thanks!

It's just another Manic Monday

It's just another Manic Monday

It's been an allright start to this week. I was quite suprised that I was quite happy walking of the elevator singing the manic monday song. Could this be good. Maybe it's a product of a good weekend? Yup i had a wonderful weekend, had a VCD marathon on Sunday, that was good.

Manic Monday by The Bangles

Six o'clock already
I was just in the middle of a dream
I was kissin' Valentino
By a crystal blue Italian stream
But I can't be late
'Cause then I guess I just won't get paid
These are the days
When you wish your bed was already made

It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my funday
An I-don't -have -to-run day
It's just another manic Monday

Have to catch an early train
Got to be to work by nine
And if I had an aeroplane
I still couldn't make it on time
'Cause it takes me so long
Just to figure out what I'm gonna wear
Blame it on the train
When the but the boss is already there

It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my funday
An I-don't -have -to-run day
It's just another manic Monday

All of the nights
Why did my lover have to pick last night
To get down
Doesn't it matter
That I have to feed the both of us
Employment's down
He tells me in his bedroom voice
C'mon honey , let's go make some noise
Time it goes so fast
When you're having fun

It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my funday
An I-don't -have -to-run day
It's just another manic Monday

Though it would be better if I could do the boogie at a hot club but then again maybe this weekend....
